Or Ambulatory Blood Pressure, as the name implies is taking the blood pressure for 24 hours on an outpatient basis. The multiple blood pressure measurements gives us a more accurate information on the real pressure compared to an isolated pressure measurement in the doctor's office or patient's home.
For whom is this study?
- To diagnose newly started arterial hypertension.
- In patients with borderline hypertension presently called pre-hypertension.
- In patients with treatment resistant hypertension.
- In patients with episodic arterial hypertension.
- To determine the efficacy of antihypertensive drugs prescribed to the patient.
- To discard the white coat syndrome (high pressure when evaluated by a physician and not under any other circumstances)
During the study:
- A bracelet will be placed on one of the arms, like the one used by the doctor when taking the blood pressure.
- The monitor will be programmed with time intervals for blood pressure measurements every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during the night.
- You will be shown the time the device will be removed. It is important that you are at the right time for your study to be reviewed and technically recorded satisfactorily.
- The Cardio Care specialist cardiologist will observe the records and make the respective diagnosis.
