Also called fainting or lipothymia, is clinically characterized by a sudden and transient loss of consciousness, associated with the loss of postural tone of the patient and in most cases is followed by spontaneous recovery, with benign characteristics that in occasions can be a sign of alarm before episodes of sudden death. Another risk estimated, is that out of 10 people who suffer from it, 3 of them will end up in the hospital, due to injuries caused by the fall.

Presyncope

Feeling a slight loss of consciousness, but without losing it entirely.

Neurocardiogenic syncope

Clinically characterized by a sudden or transient loss of consciousness, which is shown by the sudden failure of the autonomic nervous system being unable to maintain an adequate hemodynamic state of blood pressure and/or heart rate, which causes an insufficient level of cerebral perfusion and loss of consciousness.

  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • Structural heart or pulmonary disease
  • Cerebrovascular disease
  • Neuromedical disorders
